Senior Legal Cashier

Location: Bedford (Office Based with Hybrid Flexibility)
Salary: £27,000 – £35,000 per annum
Full-time | Monday – Friday | 9:00am – 5:30pm

Cooper Lomaz are working with a well-established and reputable law firm in Bedford who are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join their finance team.

This is a key position within the firm, responsible for delivering day-to-day legal cashiering duties to a high professional standard while ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules. The successful candidate will play an integral role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting compliance processes, and providing cover for telegraphic transfers and payroll when required.

The Role

• Posting receipts, payments, transfers and disbursements to client and office ledgers
• Managing daily banking processes including reconciliations, cheque handling and allocation of funds
• Ensuring strict compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and internal controls
• Monitoring ledger balances and resolving fee earner queries
• Supporting internal and external audit requirements
• Providing cover for high-value telegraphic transfers (T/Ts)
• Assisting with payroll processes when required
• Supporting month-end reconciliations, reporting and financial summaries

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm
• Strong working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
• Experience managing T/T processes in a legal environment
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Confident using legal accounts systems (e.g. P4W) and Excel

Desirable:

• Exposure to payroll processes
• Experience within high-volume conveyancing environments
• Familiarity with online banking platforms and digital approval workflows
